I was surprised too when I listened to this combo the first time. I have heard that VVS and MSG have played together once and I would live to listen to that.
It seems that Bangalore is the place for such combos; Emani with MSG, Lalgudi with Doraiswamy Iyengar, T N Krishnan with M Chandrasekaran, Namagiripettai Krishnan with M Chandrasekaran have happened in Bangalore. It is likely that there are some more combos which we are not aware of.
